This study will test a 24-month multi-component intervention designed to increase physical activity, reduce sedentary practices and promote healthy diets among preteens who obtain orthodontia care. The intervention is based on the Behavioral Ecological Model (BEM), where interacting physiological, environmental, and cultural contingencies select behavior.

Hookah Smoke Exposure Doubles Dangerous Benzene Uptake

Hookah smokers and nonsmokers exposed to hookah smoke at social events in hookah lounges had significant increases in uptake of benzene, a substance associated with an increased risk for leukemia, according to a study published in Cancer Epidemiology, Biomarkers & Prevention, a journal of the American Association for Cancer Research.
